Is it better to send bad subject tests or not send them at all?

I heard from couple reps, teachers, and counselors that SAT 2’s are always a plus, and that they show that you took the initiative to take them. However, I also heard that bad SAT 2 scores show your lack of knowledge in that subject area.

I would like an honest opinion if it is better to send horrible subject test scores or not send them at all.

Appreciate your help!!!

Of course you wouldn’t send truly bad scores if they are optional. They can only reflect poorly on you.

And of course colleges also would also want to know that your best isn’t good enough for their school - so they can reject you. If I was working in admissions, I’d be encouraging everyone to send me every standardized test score they have ever obtained as well! :stuck_out_tongue:

If your SAT score is 700+, always send.
If it’s 640-690, send if required, don’t send if not.
If it’s below 640, reconsider applying there if tests are required, and don’t send otherwise.

What if they are highly recommended and you have around 550 for a science subject test?

Unless you are applying to a school that requires you to submit all scores, it would be a mistake to send that 550.

I see that you have asked this question in multiple threads and have received the same responses in each. Your score is too low to help you. Don’t send it unless you have to. Take a long critical look at whether you truly are academically suited for the schools and majors you are considering. Fit is important.

@CGHTeach I accidentally posted this under international forum, so i made another post under college admissions. It was an accident.
