Is it better to send in a bad subject test score or no score at all?

I am a senior applying to college (so no time to retake) and I got an 800 on math 2 but a 690 on us history. These are the only two subject tests I’ve taken. I got a 5 on apush, and my major is non stem if that changes anything. Some of the schools im applying to “recommend” 2 subject tests. Is it better to send in my us history score or no score at all?

My thought on this is either send both or none at all. Since you got a 800 on Math II I would go ahead and send both scores. Since the adcoms know that most students take multiple subject tests, only sending one test result will look like you totally bombed the other one(s).

Conversely, if you had scored a 730 on the Math II test, I would not send either of your scores. Contrary to some on CC, the percentiles ARE important when taking subject tests and just getting into the 700 range is inadequate for top colleges.
