I have to be honest, but I wasn't fully aware of all the required courses for IB during my freshman and early sophomore years...As a result, I had been taking random classes and is now trying to catch up with all the other lower divs. I'm going to be a 3rd year and will be done with Math16A, Bio 1B, Chem 1A, Chem 3A/3AL by fall '10. With Physics 8A/8B, Bio 1A/1AL, and Chem 3B/3BL (along with all the upper divs)still in mind, I know that I would probably end up being a super senior :( Is it uncommon for students, especially in the science major, to enroll 5 full years of college?

I think it is uncommon for an IB major to take more than 4 years unless they are double majoring. IB is a very doable major. Unfortunately for you, you got behind in the pre-reqs. Have you been speaking with the advisors? They should be helping you stay on track with whatever your plan is to graduate.

most IB majors take 4 years (and generally one summer session somewhere in there). That’s what I’ve been told by the IB office. I actually have the ability to graduate a semester early (IB major with Latin minor) (but I am choosing not to).

Most group B courses do not require Biology 1A/L, so you can finish that requirement while you are waiting for Biology 1A/L

IB 160, a group A course, only requires Biology 1B.

I’m assuming you are on the human biology track, you could do the following:
Fall '10
Biology 1A/L
IB 160
(any other UD that doesn’t require 1A/L from Group B/C)

Spring '11
Chem 3B/L
Physics 8A
A Group B/C depending on what you took for Fall '10

Fall '11
Physics 8B
Group C
Elective

Spring '12
Electives to get you to 24 units

Remember, two of your IB courses need to from the Lec/Lab list.
