Is it common for transfer students here to not get housing?

I’m considering applying to Boston U. for Fall 2009, but I’ve heard some stories about transfers not being able to get housing on campus. I live in Virginia and living off campus is really not an option (there’s no way I could afford rent PLUS tuition!).

Also, does anyone know if they accept SAT scores completed after high school?

Not sure about the SAT scores, but for the past 2 years, transfers haven't gotten housing. It might be a little different next year since we're opening another huge dorm, the Student Village 2. If you still don't get housing, though, it's possible to move on after the first few weeks if you go early and often to the Housing dept. I know of 2 girls on my floor who didn't return to BU and their rooms are currently empty.

There are TONS of apartments and off-campus housing available so it really isn't a problem for most students. Plus, lots of students leave at the end of a semester so lots of dorm rooms typically open up.

Things may change as the new StuVi opens but if I were transferring I wouldn't count on a guaranteed room.

no guranteed rooms for transfers

they don't get housing, but if you're parents complain enough you should be fine. i didn't get housing but i know a couple people who did just because their parents spoke up. and most rent is actually cheaper than paying to live on campus.

yeah but you can finance for student living, you gotta make money to live in a apartment

Actually, BU transfers WERE given on campus housing (I know, I am one). They were offered room in the Hyatt and are guaranteed to be able to move on campus for Spring semester.

I knew a transfer who didn't get on-campus housing the 1st semester but was able to for the 2nd semester.
