Is it considerably harder to get in OOS?

Hey everyone! Well, I'm a junior and i'm currently on the college hunt and UW has been suggested to me by my guidance counselor and a few family friends (since I'm in love with the west coast, especially Seattle and I have an interest in pursuing a career in Nursing or something medical related) and I DO NOT live in Washington.

I was wondering if being OOS would make it harder to get in to UW?

Yes, because there are fewer number of spots for OOS applicants but that shouldn’t deter you from applying!

You’ll have a shot at going to the school if you apply :stuck_out_tongue: it shouldn’t matter how hard it is (I’m oos too… still applied and got in!)

Yes and no. The word is because of budget cuts and a hurting economy schools and UW in particular are looking for out of state students for a source of money.

The popular sentiment on campus is that it is easier to get in from OOS because a much lower percentage of admitted students actually matriculate, so there is a wider net cast.

thanks for all of your replies, i hope it works in my favor!
seattle seems like the most amazing place to go to school and live
and congrats xainar on the acceptance!

i’ll definitely apply
