Considering that one's stats have considerably improved in college.

As long as you have improved then theres no problem.

^agreed with above...

also, if anything it shows persistence and a true desire to attend the respective university...

I don't think they really care. They don't have a record of whether you applied

The schools that I applied to asked whether or not I had previously applied to their school. At least I think they did...the whole application process is a blur really.

how do u know they dont have a record?

"I don't think they really care. They don't have a record of whether you applied"

Actually, many of them do have a record of whether you applied or not, and still have your file. You're essentially just alerting them as to when you did apply previously because they aren't going to go on a wild goose chase to look it up otherwise. For instance I sent in one rec from a college professor to Northwestern...but I'm listed down for 4 recs on the NWU website because of the 3 i sent in for freshman admissions. Furthermore, Northwestern for example will re-open your app from a year or so ago for consideration again. I have a feeling many schools have a certain period after submission (3, 5, 10, 20 years) that they keep your app on file for whatever reason they might need.

And yes, almost all schools ask if you applied previously AND when you applied so they can look up your previous info as well.

I applied to BU BC Penn and Brown 2x's and the same results happened but BU decided to accept me than waitlist me as a transfer. I got into the schools i didn't apply to before as a transfer. Take it for what it's worth, but there is a very good possiblity things could change from the first time to the second time you apply. Also, when i called BC and BU they both told me they still had my waitlist appeal letters from the year before. On the common app it asks whether you have applied to the school before, if so when? and what were the results?

then i guess i am wrong...

no...I got rejected by UCSD, UCLA and UCI from HS...as transfer got into them all

Thanks for giving me hope!
