good question. just to be safe-- i rather turn in my application on December 31 at 11:59. but, you can always ask them.

why not be on the safe side and go for 11:30pm, what if you have a power outage, don't know where you live, but I don't understand wanting to have the drama of turning it in like that

It depends on the school. They should have it somewhere. Always submit the day before, though, to be safe.

true, submit the day before

I just have to write one more essay and I want to write a very good one. Im confused should I send it on jan 1 at 11:30 or dec 31 at 11:30? I know UChicago deadline is jan 3 and they state that it has to be there by 11:59 jan 3rd. Is this the same way for schools that deadline is jan 1st?

I'm wondering about the same thing, common sense tells me that it's anytime before 1/2, but i really don't know. Also, do they have like a same cut off point for applicants from different time zones?

lol.....i wouldn't really want to try and find out! better be safe than sorry...

Even if you send your app late, it's usually OK. even if the postmark date is late. colleges want to get good students, not screw them. However, don't tempt fate; why not just send it on or before the day BEFORE the deadline.

Better be safe than sorry. Cliche, but true.

To clarify, I'm fairly certain the deadlin is before midnight on Janurary 1st (day after the countdown) but it is EASTERN TIME. a.k.a., if you live in california, its due before 9 oclock.

However, I don't think its that important someone I know submitted 5 minutes late and still got in. Nevertheless, just get it in ASAP.

Mr-gentleman is correct

You should get it in early....

but with that said, it doesn't matter. Most of the time, the college will accept applications even a few hours after their "final date." I remember that Univ. of California extended a few days. I'm not saying they will extend a few days, but it should be fine a few minutes late.

Furthermore, when they say January 1st, I'm almost positive they mean anytime before January 2nd, ie January 1st THEIR TIME, if you are on west coast applying to school on east coast, get it in before 9pm on 1/1....however DO NOT TEMPT FATE, get it in as soon as you can!

You really should check the websites, though. One of mine closes it down at 11:45, so check to make sure.

University of Chicago's deadline is January 3rd
