Is it easier or harder to transfer in the spring?

Missed the fall application deadlines :( so now I have to apply for spring admission. Do any top schools have good admissions rates for the spring??? Is it a whole lot harder to get accepted in the spring? Is it ever easier?

There used to be a LOT of threads on this, I recommend using the search option. They are out there somewhere.

I think it might be easier in the Spring because the pool is smaller but I think the financial aid might not be as good...at least that's what happened to me when I applied last spring. I got aid this fall when I reapplied- long story- but that's imo

the problem is that some schools (i know of harvard for sure) do their selections for both semsesters now, which means there is only one application deadline.
you might want to look into that..

IMO it seems to be harder because you're competing for a lesser number of spots. BUT the number of students applying for spring transfer is smaller, so......

some schools still have rolling admissions for transfers, even after the specific deadlines; you may still be able to transfer for fall, just maybe not at the main places you want. but if you really want to be out of your current school, that might be worth the sacrifice

it all depends on the school. for example Brown generally has more spots available in the spring.

thanks guys. I'll definately use the search option and try to find some of the other threads.
I looked at the schools w/ rolling admissions and most of them don't offer financial aid if you apply this late...
I'm considering William and Mary and UVA....and some other similiar schools. Harvard is a little out of my league :) Brown probably too, though I'd die to go there.

I tried applying this spring and it was a veeery discouraging process. Three schools I applied to decided that they did not have enough spots for spring transfers after I sent in my application. UVa is INCREDIBLY difficult to get into in the spring. I was rejected...there was around 5-8% acceptance rate.
