Is it easier to transfer to UVA for economics than it is to transfer straight into McIntire?

I am a 2nd year student Finance student at JMU with a GPA of 3.76. After this semester (Spring 2015) I will hopefully be in the 3.8x range but I know that won’t be seen on my transfer app to UVA for Fall 2015. I REALLY want to get into UVA but I heard about how hard it is to get into McIntire as a student let alone a transfer. In the end I want to be an investment banker or some similar field so I can choose Economics or Finance. Will I have a better chance trying to transfer into Economics program at UVA instead?

Another question, after this semester I would be on track with all the prereqs for both majors with the exception of Calculus II for Economics and of course the requirement to take 2 econ courses at UVA. My question is, if I get accepted for Economics for Fall 2015, can I take Calculus II at a CC over the summer and transfer it to UVA?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

@vabnr703 you have a decent shot in Eco@UVA. It’s a reach for McIntire (as of now) because of lacking pre-reqs for transfer. GPA does not mean a thing if pre-reqs are/were not met. GPA 3.7 w/ 60 credits matched 100% pre-reqs beats out GPA 4.0 on irrelevant 70 credits. IMO
