Is it easy to switch schools (ie. I got accepted to CIT let's say I lose interest in Engineering is it easy to switch into Tepper or would I have to apply all over again?)

i don't think it will be easy to switch into Tepper since it is a small school and not that many people want to switch out.

You can't "apply all over again". Internal transfers are allowed once a semester. Tepper is also unable to be transfered into from another college (only internal transfers and incoming freshman).

What about SCS? Do students drop out of SCS and leave openings to transfer into SCS?

I guess, but most openings are not because of "drop outs". A department can have 0 people switch out but still have many spaces. This is because of yield and knowing that not everyone who is accepted will attend. Thus, some spots are open though it depends on specific circumstances based on the year.

I know people that have switched into both SCS and Tepper. The key is deciding fairly early (freshman year, really) and having decent grades in the right pre-reqs. For example, you will need to have taken the intro programming classes and gotten As to switch into SCS. You'll need to do well in some business classes (the same ones Tepper freshmen take) to transfer into Tepper.

The goal is to keep you on track for graduation and make sure you'll do well in the intended major.

Actually you hear about transfers fairly often. It depends mainly on the grades that you get in the department you want to transfer to. There are some who switch to Tepper when SCS is too hard, it is fairly easy to do that way. Switching into a harder major is ...harder. :)
