Is it even possible to "prepare" for AP Lang?

I keep hearing that preparing for the AP Language and Composition test isn't possible and that it's mostly a signup-and-go kind of thing, except for maybe some literary terms.

is this the truth?

More or less. There are definitely some things that you should know - including literary terms. But for the most part there isn’t much you can do to “study”. Just practice essays perhaps and make sure you know the format for the MC questions etc.

Pretty much. The MC is like more-straightforward SAT CR. Definitely practice the essay where you have to analyze literary devices in an excerpt so you learn to BS quality material  The first essay is basically an AP Euro DBQ (a.k.a. no outside info needed), and the 3rd/last essay is a longer SAT essay, basically.

Swagger, if you are a native english speaker and you’ve been speaking english all of your life… and you’re somewhat reasonable intelligent. You are on CC so i can assume you are. it really is.

My AP lang class is really pathetic. I mean REALLY pathetic. Its sad to see what these kids write for essays. We write essays in class. The average score is like… 3.

These kids don’t even know how to use apostrophes correctly.

It really is SAT CR practice. And the 2nd essay you can really freshen yourself up on. Other than that. If you’re just gifted and intelligent you’ll do fine.
