Is it even possible to transfer to "better" colleges from UCR?
better colleges meaning: georgetown, boston university, nyu, columbia?
hey, i know that the odds are great, but i just wanna know how many certain years would that take to transfer from UCR? i'm entering as a freshman this year.

*and can u be like brutally honest for you answers? thank you.

i think its much harder to transfer from a four year, and you should SERIOUSLY consider attending community college first. its cheaper and you can still transfer to riverside if you want to after two years.

it would take 2ish years to transfer, plan on getting very good grades (as close to 4.0 as you can)

:)

yep,sure...im in a four year univ. :)

you can absolutely transfer from one 4 year university to another. while the uc's and others seem to have a lot of great programs for cc students to transfer in, tons of people transfer between 4 year schools. i think going to a cc rather than a 4 year school just to "increase" transfer chances, especially when you don't list ucb or ucla as schools you are interested in is kind of ridiculous. you should be able to find plenty to write about in your essays going from a california state school to a east coast private school without having to go to a cc. also, you can transfer as early as after your first semester, though i think this is generally frowned upon, as you will be essentially the same candidate you were for freshman admissions. the best thing you can do is try to enjoy your current school, get good grades, and get involved on campus. if you have your eye on the exit before stepping on campus, you are ensuring yourself a miserable freshman year

I can't recall who specifically but i remember reading/hearing about couple students transferring out of UCR to excellent universities last year so it certainly is possible. I think u'll have a decent shot at the universities u mentioned (maybe except Columbia) if u get a high gpa.

I have a couple friends who transferred from UCR to places like USC and UCLA. So yes its possible. Just get a high GPA and have a good reason for transferring.
