Is it EVEN POSSIBLE?

For one with a low GPA (3.2 ish), 2380 to get into cornell? Amazing Recs, Essays, ECs, low income, first gen, family hardships?

just curious.

of course…but why the lower gpa?

Hell yeah…

it’s possible

why is everyone so confident? its a 3.2 unweighted, most CCers think a 3.8 is low

because cornell actually looks at your statistics in light of your personal situation?

so if you do have family hardships, low income status, first generation status, these help enlighten the fact that you might have a lower GPA than a high income, perfect family, everyone in their family has a PhD/MD, student.

word of advice: don’t take other CC’ers opinions as the truth.

oh btw, any chance at CAS? (most competitive…)

copy and paste your transcript here…
did you do well in the classes that fall under the major you’d apply for at cornell? like if you want to be an english major and did well in english in high school but bad in math…i think you’d be ok…

transcript is ugly. very

yea, want to major in english/ history. Did poorly in sciences. Well in math.

problem is, about 2.0 avg for freshmen year (surgery)
Sophmore year LOOOW (family hardships to the extreme)
All A’s junior year

as long as there is improvement and especially As jr and senior year are what matter…

oh yeah and your essays will matter too…try not to write sob stories…or if you do make them very well written…

resurg, my eng teacher loved my essays. im just really worried about my gpa. i wrote about my family issues and having to juggle 2 jobs and watch siblings to support the family.

same thing happened to me and i got into northwestern,Wake Forest, michigan, miami and some other top fifty schools (five total) that everyone here thought i’d get rejected to

2.5ish gpa freshman and sophmore years, then my last two years i got a 4.4 gpa combined

taco: you probably got in b/c of AA…did you apply to cornell?

oh, my race will actually hurt me. Asian

“2380 to get into cornell? Amazing Recs, Essays, ECs, low income, first gen, family hardships?”

Those will easily outweigh a low GPA. Now the fact that your Asian may not hurt you since you will be put into a different pool, (maybe first gen asians?) instead of asian americans.

thanks transfer student. Are you transfering to cornell

yes, u have a chance. go ahead and apply

“Now the fact that your Asian may not hurt you since you will be put into a different pool, (maybe first gen asians?) instead of asian americans.”

Is this true? My dad told me not to put that I was asian and erased it from my common app…

sorry I know this question is answered. I just wanted to know.

stop worrying. be a bit more confident. apply. and hope for the best =]

obesechicken… your last name sums it all up. lol
