Is it even worth applying??

<p>Well I am applying to Rice and some other top schools, but my mom recently suggested I apply to MIT. I REALLY don't think I'm strong enough to get in... I have been talking with my local selection committee person and she thinks I should apply...

Taking Math 2,chem, and phys. subjects in a couple of weeks
32 ACTw/wr (34m+e,32r,27sc) (about to retake... I think I'll get a 34.. who knows)

3 5's and a 4 so far (taking 7 this year)

Prospective major: electrical engineering
*Spent all my time fresh. and soph. year working out and practicing for basketball, but I had to quit when I got a job as a junior b.c. we needed the extra money.. worked 16 hrs. a week during the school year last year</p>

<p>Do you guys really think I should even apply? I don't really want to go through the embarrassment of asking my teachers for recs to MIT if I have like 0 chance.. lol</p>
