Is it even worth my time?

I got a 26 (Composite) on my practice ACT and I'm taking the real thing on Oct. 27th. Is it even worth my time/is 26 a really awful score?

What colleges are you trying to get into? Are you planning on applying for merit aid?

It really depends on your plans.

I’m applying to:
-San Francisco State (1st choice)
-Cal State Long Beach
-Cal State Monterey Bay
-UW Seattle
-UC Boulder
-U of Puget Sound
-BIOLA University

My parents really want me to apply for merit aid (they make too much money for federal aid), so I probably will.

I have a 3.7 GPA and I’m in the top 5% of my class if that helps (roughly 31 out of 750)

yea i mean a 26 is a decent score, but personally anything 28 or over is what impresses me. You might as well take it again cause you can send whichever score is better.

I haven’t taken it yet  That was on my Practice ACT.

Judging from your GPA and class rank, you can get into a school better than San Francisco.

If you’ve taken the SAT and done particularly well then don’t bother. The schools you’re applying to are coast schools. Coast schools are more familiar with the SAT than the ACT.

Yeah…I didn’t do very well on the SAT.

I’m not a test-taker. (Which is strange because in school I almost always do well on midterms/finals, but I suck at huge standardized tests.)

Go for it and only send it if you like the score! Have you been practicing in the same publisher’s text?? Have you practiced from THE REAL ACT book? Also make sure to check conversion charts for ACT-SAT scores to see which score is better…

how does it compare to your SAT? if it’s better or close to equal, take it. if it’s significantly lower, don’t bother.
I would recommend taking it though.

My SAT score was 1670, and according to the internet a 26 on the ACT is about the same as a 1760. :)

But it’s coming up as different score all over the internet. But the point is that it’s significantly higher than my SAT score, so YAY for that.

haha milikan friend!! i’m in the same quandry :p

XD

I didn’t look at your username before I read your post and I was like “OMG STALKER.”

PS.

M, I, double L I, K A N spells Millikan.

Woo. That’s the old school alma mater. XD

hahaha i like how i can’t spell the names of the schools in my own school district.

M I L L I K A N ok maybe i’ll get it now :p

He he he

It helps when you can sing the song. :)

FYI: Of the schools on your list, Biola is the best choice.

I got a 26 my first time, then a 28. I’m retaking in a week. Definately re-take if you want good merit aid and you’re up to it.

I got a 26 the first time as well, and my GPA is also a 3.7. When I took the test in June, I got a 30. I would say go for it.

I got a 1760 on my SAT and then a 28 on my ACT. A 28 is about 1950 or so (depending on where you search) and so I definitely think the ACT was easier for me. So yes, I say take it. I’m taking it again next weekend and I hope to get 30+.
