I came to American 2009 summer. really low ACT score, great essay, decent E/Cs..... do u guys think I even have a chance of getting in??

you need to take the SAT II’s, they’re required

your EC’s and awards are pretty great. your gpa could be better. but if you’re school is really competitive then i guess that makes up for it? you have as good of a chance as anyone :)

You have as good a chance as anyone. Good luck.

good ECs, but it seems unlikely that you’d have any chance at all if you don’t take the SAT IIs. they’re a required part of the application. it’s not too late: columbia accepts scores from the january test date for RD applicants.

I’m taking SAT2s this saturday but not confident with that… is it possible to take same subjects twice??
Also, since I don’t have a good test score, gpa, is it impossible to be accepted??
Or is there any other things I must concentrate and put some efforts on?

btw, I recently won another state math competition… :stuck_out_tongue: will this help me?

thanks!!

^^^Nothing is impossible.

And yes, you could retake the same SAT II, they’ll take your highest. Even though I already applied ED to Columbia, I’m retaking the SAT II in math II and chem (and a new one: World History) just in case I need it for my regular round of applications.

I really hope I won’t need them :)

Wow Columbia ED… lol
I hope I can get in to Columbia as RD… (some ppl might laugh at my scores :P)
Do know any case that a person with low test scores got in??? I bet there are, but it will be super super rare …

This guy is the one that gives me hope for myself, because I too have low SAT scores.

Wow… he might be son of a god… lol
how the heck did he get in???
those are like for decent state universities’ requirement…

I hope we can get in … :)

If you don’t mind, what are your low scores?

low scores? what do u mean? like on the sections in ACT?

Yeah…you said “low test scores”

27 is my act score… ?
(23,33,24,28 single best)
if they super score, (24,36,24,30)

Heh. I have the same exact score as you. I have a 1890 on the SAT…that’s equal (or slightly above) to 27 on the ACT.

So we are on the same boat. :P

since u r an ED applicant, u might have a better chance than I have.
What about ur gpa n E/Cs??

My GPA is 94.3% (I don’t know how to convert this to a 4.0 scale, but according to Princeton Review it is 3.9…[GPA Conversion Chart](Calculate Your GPA With Our GPA Scale | The Princeton Review))

My ECs are: Member of: NHS, MSA, Chess, Chinese Chess, SAT Prep. Volunteered at library for 172 hours. Volunteered for pharmacy for 200 hours.

Also I own a professorial website (forum)…I made it and owned it for 3 years so far, I mentioned this in my interview.

What about you?

big things are all up there.
bunch of awards, research, volunteering, varsity soccer, blah blah

You know…I feel so stupid. I have been asking you for your test scores and gpa and ECs, even though you already posted them in your first post XD

My bad.

Your ECs seem fantastic BTW.

Sorry for the triple post but BTW, the guy that I posted earlier went in during RD. ;)
