Is it faster to get credit at a CCC with a quarter system?

I heard from my friend that a school with a quarter system awards credits at a faster rate than one with a semester system because they get through the material faster. Is this true?

iirc 90 quarter units = 60 semester units ? but I don’t think it really matter as far as transferring goes.

^^^

The work done in one year under the quarter system is equivalent to the work done in one year under the semester system because 90 q hours = 60 s hours = one year.

One possible advantage of the quarter system, is that in a 9 month school year you might take 12 to 15 different 3 hour courses while in the semester system it would be more like 8 to 10. This can allow a student to explore more different subject areas more quickly than under the semester system.

One possible disadvantage of the quarter system is that the terms are shorter. If you get behind in a class, you have a lot less time to catch up. Of course this can work in your favor as well - if you really hate a class, you are done with it a lot sooner!
