Is it feasible to take AP bio and AP Enviornmental Science at the same time?

Course selections are coming up. I have an opening in my schedule, I plan to take Biology. However I plan to take another AP course. My school teaches AP computer principles which is done by teacher who is relaxed, and his class is extremely easy. However I’d like to take a class that is a little bit more challenging, such as AP environmental Science. Would you guys consider it do-able?

It’s a doable combination for a well-motivated student. It’s not like taking AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time, which I’d never recommend.

That said, the workload of any AP course is dependent upon the teacher.

Definitely doable since Enviro is primarily a subset of Bio. As ski notes, it depends on the teacher. The material is not that difficult or voluminous, but our HS teacher has a LOT of projects which can be a time sink.

Have you taken AP Stats (which is a great course for life skills)?

Assuming you’ve got all the cores, go with what interests you more or is related to your future field of study rather than going by the anticipated difficulty of the class. Colleges want to see rigor, but you aren’t likely to get rejected because you have all the cores but then took AP CSP instead of APES.

yes, def. AP ES easier than AP BIO.

No I haven’t but I’m planning on it for senior year, why do you have another recommendation?

Definitely doable but be warned, AP Bio is going to make you work for it A LOT more than AP ES.

  1. make sure you have taken bio, chem, and physics, math through precalculus, and foreign language through level 3 or 4. Don’t take APES rather than a core class.
  2. APES and AP Bio are a good combination since APES involves Biology and Chemistry applied to real life phenomena.

I would choose based on what you want to major in the future.

CS may be useful if you want to be an engineer.
AP ES might be useful if you want to major in Bio or Env. Science.
