Is it good to volunteer abroad if you want to be a doctor?

So I'm pretty much set on becoming a doctor but I realized I haven't done much to show colleges that I care for people (I really do!). My friend recently told me about some volunteering opportunities abroad in South Africa, Poland, and Ireland.

Which country should I go to and would it help on my college apps? They're only for about 2 weeks, but there's no financial aid available.

*Note: This is what the volunteers do at each of the 3 countries -
South Africa: Building/restoring a community
Ireland: Helping build peace thru landscaping, painting, and administrative help
Poland: Teaching English to children & adults

I think South Africa would be the best. And I'm planning on doing lots of service in college.

Thank you sciencenerd! South Africa was my first choice too.

yeah south africa.

I've been looking for programs too, but i couldn't find any. are you doing habitat for humanity or red cross or something?

I plan on volunteering with my local Habitat for Humanity organization and in October, I'll be helping out with some walks for the American Heart Association.
