Is it HARD getting into UC Berkeley if I'm an out of state?

By "hard" I mean, harder lol. Couldn't edit

I'm from NY.

My SAT score is a 2260 and my cumulative GPA is an 85 (we don't use the 1.0 - 4.0) scale. My GPA is low due to certain circumstances that my guidance counselor is willing to explain. I have decent ECs and I'm sure I can get good recommendation papers. I'm assuming that there are more factors needed in answering my question, but I'm trying to be as terse as possible.

I'm also a minority (parents from Mali). So, yeah, based on my little tidbit above, how would my chances be?

Getting into UC Berkeley from out of state requires ivy type stats. Your chances depend on how compelling those certain circumstances are, and how much you need in aid. I won't lie-85 is a bit low. How competitive is your high school?

85 would be roughly a 3.2-3.5 GPA in terms of the 4 scale, but if your circumstances are convincing enough, you should be pretty much set to apply for UCB .

It's possible, but I think you'd need a hook of some sort.

ooh mali. cool. um, yeah they would be hesistant (dude its like a cult to be in the UC's) but if you impress you should be in.

How do the california schools treat kid who had cancer during junior year so there SATs are low but there weighted GPA is over a 4.0?
