For current Wellesley students or alumni; I was just accepted into Wellesley and am seriously considering going. However, I plan on going on to graduate school or medical school afterwards, and I'd love to know-- is it hard to get a good GPA at Wellesley? What's the average GPA? Thanks! :D

One question is whether you can earn as high a GPA at Wellesley as easily as you can at schools which practice grade inflation. The answer, of course, is no. It’s quite a different question whether, from Wellesley, you can get into a great graduate program in medicine or whatever else you choose. The statistics say you can.

Keep in mind that Wellesley attaches a note to everyone’s transcript explaining their policy of grade deflation. Also remember that, as when applying to college, there’s more to med or grad school admissions than GPA. Test scores are very important, as are recommendations, extracurriculars, research, work experience, awards, etc. My daughter is Wellesley-bound, and she fully intends to study medicine in the future. I have no doubt she’ll be successful getting into to med school in spite of her probably having a B+/or A- average upon graduation from Wellesley in 2015.

I know another girl who has a 3.8 and is pre-med so its not impossible. Now putting grades aside, I don’t think anything compares to the education you get at Wellesley. You become very well-rounded, and I think that distinguishes Wellesley women.
