Is it hard to get quality sleep in the dorms?

Because if it is it could never be worth staying there in order to make more friends

I get ****ed off so easily And feel like I'm dying if I don't get decent sleep

Depends on you, your location, and your roommate.

If you’re a really light sleeper (I get woken up by pretty much any noise) you won’t always be able to sleep… I was in Unit 1 last year, first floor near a busy road. The drunk people liked to walk by screaming late at night, and traffic could be noisy in the morning. Roommates/suitemates who wake up before you can also mean extra noise in the room, especially because the walls are a bit thin. I found earplugs helped a lot, so if noise bothers you when you’re sleeping you should get some. Of course, sleeping with earplugs can also be bothersome. :stuck_out_tongue: Usually there’s not a ton of noise, it’s only a problem if you’re a light sleeper.

In the end it doesn’t really matter… you could have those problems anywhere. So long as your roommate is respectful and quiet when you’re sleeping, it won’t be any better/worse than other housing. I think most people are okay with getting enough sleep in the dorms… remember that everyone else also needs sleep and has classes in the morning.

It really does depend on your roommates. One of mine snored really loud, so like failure said, you might want to invest in some ear plugs.

Unless you really, REALLY have a problem with sleeping though, I would still recommend the dorms.

I like a white noise machine. There is a good one by Marpac on Amazon I use. It won’t drown out everything but does a good job.

I have a problem in that unless I get at least 8-10 hrs of good sleep,
I won’t be able to function well

That’s a lot of hours of sleep! I was going to agree that it depends on the roommates, but your roommate is bound to be awake for some of the 8-10 hours you sleep.

I’m also a really light sleeper and I could never get a decent night’s sleep in unit 2, so I took some naps in the afternoon, still don’t regret staying in the dorms though.

@iamberkeley: You might have a serious problem with the Units. I averaged about 4-6 hours/night (Unit 2). Failure622 is right. Lots of drunkards out, especially later on in the week (and most weekends). Earplugs and noise cancelling earphones are your friends. Learn to love them.

Like I’m different from a lot of people

Seems like a lot can function around 5-6
But I never got used to that
Always crashed hard after 5-6 hr nights of sleep and got like 12+ the next day.
Which dorm might be better ?
I’m in FPF and requested a unit two double transfer (currently unit two triple with a chill roommate I met on Facebook but 3 is too crowded).
I might need to seriously consider living somewhere else because crashing and sleeping 12+ hrs every other day isn’t going to work here.
