<p>Off the top of my head it would be harder as a new 10th grader.
For Exeter for 2009-2010:
1863 applied for 9th grade–203 got in = roughly 11% of those who applied
630 applied for 10th grade–62 got in = roughly 10% of those who applied
So although the difference isn’t much with BS it takes time to acclimatize and if you go in as a new ninth grader versus tenth grader you will have more time to get used to the customs and schedules of the school. Also, it will be easier to manage the work since you are used to it versus the new tenth graders.</p>
