So at my school, if you take American Literature/Writing Honors, then you can take the AP English literature (i think?) exam without taking the AP English course. Does it look impressive on your college app if you've taken an AP test without/before taking the course? Also, if you are looking to major in English or an English-related field, is it impressive to double up on English classes (i.e. English AP and Humanities)?

I don't think English is would look as impressive as other courses that are self-studied. I mean if you're a good writer, you're a good writer. There isn't a WHOLE lot more to know other than a couple of literary terms. Good job and good luck though. Plus side is that you'll get college credit to a course that is universally accepted.

How about Calc BC?

I can't really tell. I self-studied for AP Euro and got a 5, but I'm not sure if it helped me or not. Can't hurt though especially if you do well.

CalBC I'm not sure about. That one you may need in-class instruction to do well on, but if you're a math whiz, go for it!
