Is it just me or is everyone getting UCLA related spam mail?

Not sure how spammers got my email, but I'm getting things junk from uclagraderecords@gmail.com and other fake emails- all from gmail for some odd reason.

Take a look at another CCer who got this here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/986681-ucla-grade-distributions-email-message.html#post1065503661

I just got this one today from College Budget (collegebudget202@gmail.com).

Show me Student Loan Options for UCLA:

Link removed for security purposes

September has arrived and with it begins the start of the fall
semester at UCLA.

Even though the semester has started, students still have options
available to pay for their tuition bills and other college expenses.

Student loans from top lenders are still available, but don't delay.
If you still need money for fall semester, let us help you by
providing the below helpful links:

Sounds like a phishing email. And how the hell did someone find out my email address?

Yeah, I have gotten some bogus e-mails too.

Be careful.

Yea I’ve gotten plenty. Just delete ones that don’t seem reliable or don’t link back to a UCLA URL.

haha yeah me too. Like UCLA would really use URL shortners in their official links.

Sigh. I knew writing my email on those sign-up sheets at free food events was a bad idea.

it’s called “not listing yourself in the ucla directory”

[ucla.in - Create shortened links to UCLA web pages](ucla.in - Create shortened links to UCLA web pages)

i meant from 3rd party websites like “tiny.lol”, etc.

but i didn’t know that there was an official UCLA url shortner, so i take back my words.

You can try taking your contact information off the ucla directory. My orientation counselor notified us that our personal contact information is listed on the directory for anyone to search. Name, address, phone number, and e-mail. You can do it through ursa, but I think you have to remember to unblock it before graduation. I seem to remember it does something prior graduation, but i don’t remember.
