is it just me or is everyone going pre-med?

i am being tongue in cheek. but i did read an article that stated that the increasing amount of women in medicine was correlated to a decline in enrollment for md/phd programs...not sure how valid it is, but interesting.

btw curmedgeon, calm down! i will admit that i think the idea of a male nurse is still a little weird to me, but it's not like i'm against having male nurses. also, don't equate misogyny with sexism -- i don't hate women, i love them! i sometimes create stereotypes of femininity for women that may or may not be correct and surely i'm not the only person in the world that does this.

Why would you assume I was not calm? The exclamation points are in YOUR post, not mine. As I said, the attitude that "male nurses are icky" is repugnant and IMO uneducated. "Sororistutes" is not funny. The health-care professions needs none of that attitude while women are still trying to break into traditionally male dominated roles. We wouldn't stand for it if it was racial, why would anyone assume it is O.K here?

i thought "sororistutes" was funny :X

A good female friend of ours is on the frontline of the battle of the sexes in medicine (and winning in a lawsuit). It is clearly a good old boy network

I plan to attend medical myself, reguardless of who's in there and not. Also I read a comment saying students in medical school don't have a life ( or something like that ) well you actually do/ can have one. It's just one of those things many say to scare people away from the field.

Coolbreeze, my brither is in med school, and when I say he has no time to even play on the internet I mean it. This is a guy who was all conference in soccer, and of course liked to do stuff like everybody else does in college. Not trying to scare away anybody
