Is it just me, or is the blue book practice test 7 significantly harder?

I just took it - and scored significantly lower in all of the sections that I have prior, even lower than the exam I took back in April. I've never done so poorly!
Please tell me it's a harder test and I'm not just doing worse at Critical Reading! :(

I think it’s different for everyone. I actually found the CR passages in test 7 to be very interesting, and I absolutely fell in love with them. I actually got everything right. (It was my first time getting an 800 in CR) I did find the math section a bit harder than others… I thought it was an okay test overall. I’m pretty sure some people felt the test was harder.

I’m sincerely worried then. I got a 660 on CR on my first test, and I’ve been working fairly hard to attempt to bump it up another 100 points. I started taking practice test in the beginning of September, and I did surprisingly well, at the range I wanted. And as time has gone on, I’ve been doing worse and worse, until this test where I got 15 wrong on CR! I didn’t even do that bad on the test! It’s really upsetting me, I got a 5 on the APLAC test, so why can’t I do as well on this exam? :(

I think it really depends on your mood/condition when you take the test. I’m not a concentrated test taker like many others, so my scores range the two extremes. I sometimes can get a 2400 when I’m in a really good mood, and can concentrate for four hours (rarely happens), while other times, I can get a 1800 in a horrible day. For many people like me, luck plays a vital role in these stressful tests. Maybe it just wasn’t your day. Don’t be worried, and try another practice test.

Thanks Jeff! That actually helps and makes sense! (: Saturday can’t come soon enough, I’m ready to be DONE with SATs!

I’m nervous for the SAT. haha I don’t think I’ll do well on the Oct SAT. Hope I’m in good condition…!!

That cannot be true…

^^^Sure it can. My Math scores have ranged from low 600s to an 800. It just depends on how focused you are…

okay haha I got a 1800 really long time ago, so I did exaggerate that a little. However, my score does range from 2000’s to 2400.
My score varies significantly in CR. When I love the passages, I can retain info really well. If I don’t, it just crashes… to like 550~650 range.
Math score falls from various careless mistakes. My essay just sucks at times.
I don’t know about other sections, but I can tell you for sure that CR really really really really depends on how focused you are.

Kieran, you never know unless you are that person!

Im in your position Stary. I took test 1 and 2 (2nd edition) and score in the 1800s for the first test (my June SAT was 1680), and then on the 2nd, i got in the 1900s. I decided to save test 3 for this coming week and so i did test 10 (the last one). This was so much harder…

I was doing fine, like pretty well in all the sections but then in the final CR section, -11!!! and in the final math, -8/16… My CR score was at a range of 570-630 (in the others it was a 600) and for Math it was 530-610 (in the others it was a 610). My writing was the same, but that worried me ^ (Math and CR) but i figured out the problem. I wasnt in the best mood and i went in with an attitude of “let me just get this over with!”. I wasnt thinking clearly and i made a lot of obvious mistakes.

My goal is to be unstressed, and take it in a practice test mood so i can score efficiently high as possible! Good mood + good feeling = good score id say
