Is it just me?

I love reading fiction! :O

To me, a well written book is able to bring the fictional story to life - and if done well, its waaay~ better than watching a movie.

Well, that question's just not fair for me given my thing for the Holocaust and WWII.

Everybody's proclaiming to like fiction but somebody's yet to state something you gain from a novel that's unattainable from a non-fiction book. I understand everybody might have different tastes but I've come to a conclusion that non-fiction books serve more purpose that those of fiction.

Are you familar with The Jungle by Upton Sinclair?

What do you "gain"? Entertainment? New ideas? New vocabulary? An appreciation for the author's imagination and writing as an art form? I've never come across someone that looks at writing in such utilitarian terms as "oh no, I won't actually learn any hard facts". Again I assume you only watch documentaries and not any other type of video, since you wouldn't gain anything by watching actors portray imaginary people in imaginary situations.
