<p>I mean, Williams and Harvard (for example) are pretty much nothing if you've already done the common app. I bet the number of essays (required and "optional") and short answers is a major deterrent among the lazy/complacent who don't see Penn as a first choice anyway</p>
<p>For what it's worth, Stanford's application is far more extensive...Penn isn't all that bad although it definitely requires you to do some more research into their school (and hence distinguishing between applicants who really want to go to Penn, and those who are just applying for the sake of it)</p>
<p>I kind of like it, though. I was a little ambivalent when I decided to apply, but by the time I finished the application (in particular the Why Penn and joint degree program essays) I really wanted to go.</p>
<p>haha same here theoneo...actually, that happened with 90% of my apps. If I got in everywhere I don't know how I'd choose b/c I love them all now!</p>
