I'm actually a student, but I'm posting on the parents forum in case anyone had experience with this.

I submitted my deposit with a credit card online for my college. I have a receipt for it, so the payment should have gone through. My name and student ID are indicated on the payment. However, the college also sent an envelope awhile ago that they requested to be sent back, indicating the admissions response (i.e. are you attending, not attending, the method you are using to pay for your deposit, etc.) . I sent it out this evening in a panic just in case, explaining that I paid online, but I don't think it was postmarked for today because of the time I put it in the mailbox.

So basically, the money is in, but that envelope is not and obviously will not get there or be postmarked by May 1st. I left a message at the admissions office regarding the situation. Can they rescind my admission? Does anyone have experience with this?

I think paying your student deposit counts enough for accepting your admission. I mean, what if someone lost the admissions response envelope? Or it got lost in the mail and it never arrived at their house?

It’s a good thing that you left a message. I have no experience, but I can’t imagine they’d be so heartless as to take your money and tell you that you can’t go because you didn’t mail in a piece of paper. If you were accepted, they want you, so don’t worry.

This just sounds like a glitch in their system–or maybe their note to you was already in the mail when you sent in your deposit. Just call on Monday and sort it out; I can’t imagine it will be a big deal.

Money speaks pretty loudly. And remember: they want you. They’re not looking for some miniscule technicality to boot you out. But call on Monday; it will set your mind at rest.
