Is it necesarry

Is SAT 2 Subject test necessary for Applying to UMichigan , Brown , duke , Gtech and other
engineering colleges ?

Note - i know a few seniors from my school who got admitted in to brown without any SAT subjects

P.S.- I want to pursue a degree in MEch. Eng .

You have to read the website of each of these schools to find out what their specific requirements are. Do not rely on information from past years, as admissions policies do change.

ny1 else ?

Anyone else what?

Did you think there was going to be a dissenting opinion as to happymomof1’s straightforward advice or are you just too darn lazy to check these websites out yourself?

ctyankee :

Stop judging me ! . I have checked the websites and some of them say optional , or just required for some , which is very vague . I have even sent a few mails to the admissions in charge of the colleges, but the process is very slow as it is 1:00 am at the place where i live.

I just wanted to know specific info from prospective US High School students or counselors who know the specifications !

I usually find it simplest to go to the college board site and plug in the college name. For example, for Brown:

[College Search - Brown University - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

In summary, Brown requires 2 sat2 tests if you are submitting the SAT1. If you submit the ACT with writing, you do not need to submit any sat2.

It should only take about 5 minutes to do this with the other college names. The college board site also has links to the colleges if you want to double check if engineering is different form arts and sciences.

You may want to start a graph or chart of the different colleges and their requirements just to keep all the information organized.
