In the transfer essay, do you think it is even necessary to mention WHY you want to transfer out of your old school? I'm starting to think it's more compelling to use every possible word to explain what you want in the new institution, but it could be possible that the context helps.

I don’t think it’s necessary to mention why you want to transfer out of your old school. It’s more important to talk about why you want to transfer IN to your new school.

If you’re going to mention your old school, I think it’s more important to talk about how much you’ve enjoyed your classes, and how much you’ve learned. It’s better to word it along the lines of “I have truly enjoyed my experiences at school x. Throughout my courses at school x, I have been able to build a strong foundation in my major. I look forward to the increased depth and specialization that is going to be available to me at school y.”
