I am a 19 year old male and I do like to listen to guys like *NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, and Hilary Duff. Is it normal for college students at that age to like this style of music or I might be a little dorky. And I do like girls too.

LOL. We have the same taste in music (minus the nsync and 98 degrees) and I’m a 16 year old guy. So yeh it’s normal. It’s your music. Like who would care what you listen to on your iPod, mp3, etc. But that’s just my view.

no, its not normal for a guy your age to listen to that kind of music, but if you like it listen to it! ^_^

Really there is so much different kinds of music that it doesn’t really matter. As long as your preferred music of choice doesn’t amount to drunken homeless people banging on trashcans people aren’t really going to give much thought to it.

Those groups you listed are wierd for guys to listen to. In college you are supposed to listen to diferent music so people think you are unique.

take my words for it. get some psychiatric help

Uhh? You know how general "pop music’’ is, right? Anyways, I’d assume like <.01% of normal college students listen to the Oldies you listed, but it doesn’t matter. Listen to what you like. If you like Oldies, then listen to it. You won’t be ostracised nor demonised for the type of music you listen to. You like girls, huh? That’s cute.

That’s not pop music anymore dude. Well, pop music ten years ago, anyway. I listen to NSYNC for nostalgic reasons though.

To answer your question–no, it isn’t, but listen to what you like.

What rymd said.

But yeah most college students listen to top 40 like it’s going out of style (and within a year of its release, a top 40 song will be). 'tis rare to find someone who appreciates other music.

It reminds me of the song m pop. Everyoe talk about pop music. That song is wierd, but cool. Some of the old music is cool too. I like the song whip it by devo. Its funny. I think it shows character. Like everyone listens to hip hop and they think they are cool, but that shouldnt be why you get friends.

I just found out the bee gees are dudes. I thought they were chicks.

It’s normal to like the kind of music you enjoy listening to. Although, and this is just my opinion, it may be time to branch your tastes a little bit. I’d start with 80’s and go from there.

Haha my bro is a junior in college, played football in high school, he’s straight all that, but still jams out to some boy bands and stuff like that. It’s not his favorite music, but he listens to it. Its like a nostalgia . “Real men/guys” just " own" it and and are confident and admit to liking it rather than lying and trying to pretend that they don’t. I know a lot of guys that will be like “hell yeah thats the jam!” too old songs and groups. It all depends. Now if the boy bands and Brittney Spears are all that you listen to… then that could cause an issue and people to question of your sexual orientation.

Well, I really like J-Pop/J-Rock songs so I would say it’s absolutely fine, when I was 13 I really liked Aaron Carter’s music and now I’m of the belief that, looking back (and having NEVER listened to a single song by him) that the Bieb just can’t compare. Furthermore I feel I can report with 99% confidance that this sentence is true.

How the **** does sexual orientation even have any correlation with liking a particular genre of music?

Pop music gets played a lil at my house especially when our dj takes requests from sluts.

How the **** does sexual orientation even have any correlation with liking a particular genre of music?

I wasn’t saying that sexual orientation is directly correlative with the genre of music one listens to , I was particularly meaning A LOT of guys this day in age -YES- will question if he is GAY or not if his FAVORITE musical artists are NSYNC and BRITTNEY SPEARS. Some guys will accept him liking it like someone said for ‘nostalgic reasons,’ but usually not as his favorite artists.

sorry that wasn’t directed at you. it was to the OP. he said “style of music” which is genre and then said something about i like girls though

There is definitely some music that guys shouldnt listen to. Like the barbie song. Maybe its ok if you are in an apartment, but in a dorm wouldnt be cool.
