Is it normal to have transcript issues when double majoring?

I’m a senior in college applying to grad school. I have less than a month left and next week the Registrar staff go home for break.
I was about to upload my transcripts and noticed three mistakes in them:

  1. There was extra class I never took with a zero.
  2. My graduation month and year were completely off by two years.
  3. Only one major shows (I am double majoring)

So I drive all the way to school an hour away. Problems one and two were resolved. Registrar sends me on a wild goose chase for the third issue. The woman calls the head of registrar who says she’s too busy and refuses to see me, saying to go to Advising. Advising send me back, saying that’s the head of Registrar’s job. They try calling her and she doesn’t pick up the phone.

I go back to the Registrar and the woman at the desk won’t let me see the head of registrar again. I go in anyway and insist she fixes it so I can apply to grad school WITH the double major showing. She says she will get it fixed by the end of the week. (she goes home for break thursday. And I tried to get this resolved last year for a scholarship and they never fixed it.) Then she says it may not be possible to have a double major in my transcripts… WHAT!? No way did I just do double the work and pay extra money to not have it show in my transcripts.

Now she is emailing saying only IT can fix it and they are waiting for them to respond. I am extremely worried that she will go home for break and never fix the issue, just like last time. Then I won’t be able to apply to grad school with the correct major on my transcripts! It only shows the major less relevant to the program I am applying to.

And if I apply to jobs, I worry that they won’t see the double major in my transcripts eitber.

I don’t know what to do! Is this normal?

Having some mistakes isn’t completely uncommon. You were able to resolve #1 more quickly than might have happened at many schools, so that’s good. As for the double major thing, from my experience, colleges that allow double majors include both on your transcripts.

Since the issue with the double major may not be resolved quickly, is there anything else your school can provide you with that will show both majors, such as a letter from the registrar?

In the meantime, can you find out who she contacted in IT, and follow up with that person directly?

That is a good idea to follow up with IT. I’ll ask who they contacted.

The only other thing I can think of, which I mentioned to them, is if they gave me two printed transcripts, one with each major, and I scanned them, and combined them in a PDF file. I had to do this once for a scholarship because they wouldn’t fix it before either.

I could ask for a letter saying I’m double majoring but would I submit that with my transcript? In a combined PDF?

I’d also just like to get this fixed though because I can’t do this every time I need my transcripts for everything, like jobs and scholarships.

You do need to get it fixed, in the end. You may end up asking for transcripts 20 years from now, and the people helping you now won’t be there, etc. So absolutely get this fixed.

The transcripts you submit to grad schools need to be signed and sealed from the registrar, so you can’t take them and combine them into one .pdf. If the school will give you two versions of your transcripts, and a letter of some sort explaining that you’re double majoring and this is how they show that, and if the two transcripts are sealed and stamped and etc., they can be submitted to grad schools with the letter. It would also be helpful for you to contact the grad schools, let them know this is how your school shows the two majors, so they know what they’re looking at.
