Especially after I submit things and come back to look at them, I can't help but cringe at everything I do. Is this a standard sentiment?

Well, just keep in mind that there’s nothing you can do after you submit your application (unless you can submit additional supplements), and college apps won’t really matter once you receive your results. Also remember that you did the best that you could.

I look back at previous tests/competitions and sometimes think I was really dumb back then since I know more now, but it’s all in the past…

No. From the way I see it, there are two possibilities:

You had a sudden epiphany of knowledge immediately after submission.

You did not check it over and over again almost until you memorize your entire application.

There’s no way to fix it, so I’d definitely stop the worrying.

I feel the same way. I totally understand because once I submitted my applications, I always wished that I had done something differently. But once you click the submit, it’s up to fate. No need to worry. This sentiment is normal, since I think I can never be fully satisfied with my work. There’s always room for improvement or a tweak here and there. Wish you the best of luck
