I emailed 3 prof.s and expected to have 2 replies. Now all of them replied me. So what should I do? Will there be a neg impact?

Do I have to submit one of these 3 as a supplementary material?

Thank you!

Do I have to submit one of these 3 as a supplementary material?

Thank you!

depends where are you applying to? most school only ask for one

Unless the college website states otherwise, my rule of thumb is to send at most 1 supplemental LOR beyond what is required.

Thanks. But will a supplemental LOR hurt my chance? How?

Most ask for two, right?

One supplemental will not hurt your chances, colleges will either consider it or ignore it. If you send multiple supplemental LORs a college could become wary of your persistence and IMO a tendency to think that you deserve more attention than other applicants. But I’m a very ‘by the book’, ‘follow the rules’ type of person and am pretty hypersensitive to entitlement type issues ;).

The ones D1 applied to required 2 LORs, but that was just half a dozen schools. I think it’s safe to say that 2 LORs is the max, some may want 1 and others none.

Are they both from instructors? Or 1 from high school counselor, 1 from college instructor? Or 1 from high school counselor, at most 2 from instructors?

Instructor Evaluations: come from college profs or TAs, depending on what the school specifies as their definition of instructor. Many schools require 2, but it varies.

Secondary School Final Report: this is written by your HS GC.

Supplemental LORs: can come from anyone, an additional college prof, HS teacher, job supervisor, pastor, etc.

Thank you!

Where are you applying? I’m applying as a transfer to a number of colleges, and I’ve yet to see one that requires 2 LORs, let alone 1 (for transfers).
