Is it ok to take only 2 years of a language instead of the recommended three to get accepted into uc riverside? I passed spanish 2 sophmore year but i really dont want to take spanish 3 because of the teacher and the fact that i got a c so i would have to repeat it. im really thinking of taking the last 2 years as french 1 and french 2.... btw im a sophmore.

yeah it’s ok I only took 2 years of french and got in

If you’re fine with UCR, then yes. UCR accepts anyone who is “UC qualified” …meaning they have completed A-G…have above a 3.0 gpa…and completed the required standardized testing…

Personally, I’d recommend taking another year, just in case you change your mind and want to shoot for a different school…although, a girl from my school only took two years of French and she’s going to Harvard next year…

^^^^^^^ wait do uc colleges look at freshman year grades to determine if you make the 3.0 requirement?

no the looh at all A-g but they weight heavily on 10 and 11

Completing the A-G means you need to pass (with a C or better) all of the A-G courses, which requires only two years of language. You need a overall UC GPA of 3.0 for your classes taken 10th/11th grade to apply (and then be admitted) to UCR.

is ur goal school ucr? 2 years of foreign language would be enough for ucr, but for other schools, you may want to go beyond requirements.

Ditto to what Cali Trumpet and jenuwin01 said.
Pass all the A-G requirements (recommended is exactly what it is – recommended, but not absolutely necessary) and you’ll be fine.

Since you’re planning to take 4 years of a foreign language total anyway, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
