Is it ok to use an old SAT prep book e.g. Barron's 2005?

I have the official blue book for college board and the PR 2009 edition. I think I have enough material to study from...However, just in case I run out, I checked my school library and it only the Barron's Math Workbook 3rd addition and Barron's SAT 22nd addition, both of which were published in 2005. Will I be fine studying from those books? Will the content be different from this year's SAT?

Yes, I believe that you should be fine. Math never changes, neither does reading or writing. If the material ever changes on the SAT, then I’m sure that there would be a large announcement and a sudden release of new books. There hasn’t been anything like that, so go study!

I would not recommend it. 2005 is the first year the new test came out so perhaps Barron’s and other prep books didn’t have enough experience with the material at the time.

SAT scores are very important, and it is not wise to be stingy with prep books. Are you sure you can’t afford $30-40 for some good prep books off of Amazon?

I’ve used Barron’s math workbook from more recent years, and I can tell you that it isn’t a very good source. It has numerous mistakes and even explains concepts incorrectly. The earlier version might be even worse.

muaythaiguy2 yes I comprehend the importance of the SAT. I have the BB and PR, I was just wondering if I should check out the Barron’s from my library just in case I run out of prep materials before the SAT actually takes place, which I doubt will happen…but I was just thinking ahead
