I was banking on doing well on the math 2 subject exam, but turns out my score ended up being terrible. Definitely not sending it. So all I’m left with is the chemistry subject exam and my USH subject exam, which are 760 and 750 respectively.
Will this hurt my chances of getting into NYU Stern? I am sending AP scores instead, which are better: a 5 in USH and 4’s in chemistry, european history, and statistics.
My SAT I score is 2260, if you’d like to know–760CR, 700M, 800W
The rest of my application is generally strong; it’s just this subject testing area that is lacking.
You need to learn the NYU testing requirements because submitting the two subject tests or three AP’s you mention accomplishes absolutely nothing. For NYU, you meet its testing requirements by submitting either: (a) SAT, or (b) ACT, or (c) three subject tests which for Stern must include a math, or (d) three AP tests, which for Stern must include a math, see http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/apply/freshmen-applicants/instructions/standardized-tests.html. In essence, your SAT score meets the testing requirement. You can do instead the three subject test or three AP test option to meet the testing requirment but for Stern you must have a math and if you do not submit a math none of your subject tests or AP scores will be considered for determining admission.
@drusba I understand that I’ve met the testing requirement, but my SAT 1 math score seems to be a little on the low side, which is one of the reasons I decided to take the SAT Math 2 subject exam. Do you think not having that high math score will be detrimental to my admission?
