My daughter was waitlisted. We are OOS, and UNC still remains a top choice school for her. When she accepted her place on the waitlist, they stated that other than her end of year senior grade report, she was not to send ANY other supplemental material to the school. However, I have been reading on various sources that students DO send a short letter to show that they are very interested in the school and would accept a place if admitted. I gather from reading in different forums that it is good to show interest in a college if waitlisted, but I am wondering about UNC specifically.

My question is, is it okay to send one short letter? Or when they say "do not send anything else to us", do they mean it? Apologies for the questions... we are new at the college admissions process....and to CC :P. My daughter is the first of our children to go to college. I am thinking that they do not want things like new awards and accomplishments, but I am hoping that a short letter is okay. However, we don't want to write a letter that results only in annoying the adcoms. Thanks for your help!
