is it OKAY to have 3 classes on the same day?

is it manageable to have 3 classes on the same day?

on tuesday and thursday i would have

psychology or sociology 11:00- 12:30

asian studies 2:00-3:30

english r1b or r1A (depending on AP score) 3:30-5:00

is this manageable?

Absolutely. You happen to have a 1.5hr break between the first two courses, so you would have time to rest your brain.

Now if it's 3 classes nonstop, that would be bad.

I had three 1 1/2 hour lectures back-to-back-to-back last semester, with another 1 1/2 lecture (for a total of four) in the evening. It was awesome. I wanted it that way. All of my lectures were across two days, I had one-hour discussions on mondays and wednesdays, and my fridays were free. That's called good planning and making effective use of one's time.

Oh yeah. Um. I think it's manageable for you.

Good luck,
TTG

I had 5 hours of classes straight last sem and I thought it was awesome.

I have four classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, one class and two lectures on Fridays, and Tuesdays and Thursdays off. How cool is that?

Don't you guys get stressed out when exams come around? I was going to schedule like that but my CalSO person convinced me not to.

which plan is better?
i actually could take ALL my classes on Tues/thurs but i rather not.(too tiresome)

Plan 1

M/W/F
Math 8:00-9:30

Tu/Thurs
psychology 11:00- 12:30
asian studies 2:00-3:30
english r1b 3:30-5:00

Plan 2

M/W
Math 8:00-9:30 (and Friday)
english r1b 3:30-5:00

Tu/Thurs
psychology 11:00- 12:30
asian studies 2:00-3:30

Plan 3

M/W
english r1b 3:30-5:00

Tu/Thurs
math 8:00- 9:30 (1 hr discussion from 10:00-11:00)
psychology 11:00- 12:30
asian studies 2:00-3:30

plan 1,2, or 3?

Your classes aren't even hard to begin with. Don't sweat it.

Incoming freshman are funny.

Just look at this: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~amanb/cgi-bin/makeSched.cgi?file=darkpyr0&open=1

Essentially nonstop classes from 8AM to 4PM and that will be a breeze. Stop worrying so much, relax, do what you want.

Just pick what you think works for you and how you want to allocate yoru free time.

If I were you, I'd do them all on Tu/Th because it's nice ot have entire days free to do whatever you need to.

which plan should i choose guys?

If I were you, I'd do 1...

DarkPyr0 - "Incoming freshman are funny."

Hmm, in a non-creampuff major as well. Impressive.

how about chem: 9-10 am then math: 10-11am

The problem, is I would have to go from Pimental to Dwinelle. Plus, I want a good seat at the front. Is this wise?

DarkPyr0 what's that site?

The link I posted is the schedule output from: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~amanb/makeSched/

I recommend using this website to do your schedule, automatically does a schedule table it's real nice. I plan on porting it to Google calendar some day.

Pimental to Dwinelle is nothing, the entire walk is completely downhill.

Assuming this is in the larger lecture hall of Dwinelle, you can enter in from the lower entrance and you walk right into the front of hte room.

darkpyro, have you taken back-to-back classes? Were you able to get to classes on time?

If you talk to people, most of them prefer not to have gaps in their schedules so a lot of it ends up being back to back.

I got to classes on time easily. Most of the professors understand that you may have another class on the other side of campus and they are fine with you coming in 10-15 minutes late. I can even get to class before the professor gets there.

I've only had 1 exception to this and that was with Prof. Sethian of Math 54, the reason he was strict on timing (must be there at the hour, no free 10minutes) was because the class was overbooked and he wanted people to switch to the other lectures.

If you want create a few different schedule and when you get up to Berkeley for CalSO, you can see how the buildings are laid out and judge the distance for yourself.

There is 1 thing you should keep in mind and it probably doesn't affect you but don't plan on using the Cory Hall elevators (north east corner of campus). They are building an extension to Davis hall and they closed access to Hearst street so there are only 2 ways to Hearst, 1 is through North gate and the other is through the 2nd floor of Cory.

People normally use the elevators in Cory to get to the street so they are always packed and take forever.

if you like having no breaks between classes, i'd recommend using this scheduler.

http://www-inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~pshyu/FinalDistance.html

the link seems to be malfunctionign. I can't see the thing in the middle. What does it do?

What freshmen don't realize is that you don't even have to go to lectures...not that I'm condoning this or anything.
