is it okay to have my advisor write my transfer recommendation?

since i’ve been having a bad time at school, i didn’t do so well last semester and did not have the chance to get to know my professors in my huge lectures or even really get to know my 2 TAs that i only saw once a week. so i asked my advisor to write my rec. is this beneficial/can it replace a professor/TA rec? what will admissions people think? (i’m a freshman)

bump… anyone?

I would check with each respective school to see if they would accept this sort of recommendation. I don’t think it can “replace” a professor rec, though. I believe that most schools want evaluations from instructors who have taught you in an actual class because they want to know about your work ethic, academic potential, how you work with others, etc. You will definitely have to ask a professor/TA for a rec unfortunately.

i have the same issue. i am a freshman and i didnt build good relationships with any of my instructors last semester. i decided to send an email to an instructor who looks the nicest and explain why i must transfer. i think you should try and send them your resume if all your classes were large
