Back in the fall I was going to apply to two schools so I sent in my teacher recs, SAT scores, and transcript to them. I didnt even look at the application. Now I dont want to apply there because I know I wont attend. And why pay app fees? But do I still have to do it?

I don’t think you have to. I sent my SAT scores to eight schools because it was free, but I’m only even applying to six. It just makes it easier once you really do decide.

Nope, you don’t have to apply. If you don’t complete your application, you might get some nagging junk mail or spam, but they’ll just never make an admission decision based on your incomplete file. No harm, no foul.

Edit: OTOH, if you have received some nagware and especially if you were a strong candidate, it is polite to drop them a letter or even an email message indicating that they shouldn’t expect an application from you. Good karma and all that…

I started my app for Duke, but never finished. They wanted me to send in an official letter of withdrawal… and by the time I got around to doing it, they had already sent me a “sorry, your app was incomplete so we rejected you.” I felt bad, but what could I do at that point…

I sent test scores to two different schools and only applied to one (gasp I am here and applied to ONLY 1 school!), and the one I sent scores to and didn’t apply to (Michigan State), didn’t even contact me, asking why I didn’t apply, or anything like that.

You maybe should appoligize to the people who wrote recs for you for wasting their time though.

they didnt waste their time if all they had to do was press Print one more time
