Is it okay to put stuff in the additional info section of the Common App?

I have a couple things I want to put in the additional info section of the common app because I was advised to try to put as much as I could in the special EC section by lumping some stuff together (such as two separate foreign exchange trips) and by not including some stuff that isn't as significant. Someone said that they really really don't like extra stuff. Any advice?

The Additional Information section is there only for CRUCIAL information that may help impact their decision. Eg, Trauma, why your grades are so low (maybe you were in hospital, your mom died, you worked to support your family), you have a disability, etc.
They don't want to see any more crap from your ECs.
That is why you need to be proactive in only putting your most significant ECs in that section.

that makes no sense. my counselor said that was where my resume went. and i cant put other awards on my commonapp that aren't from school

Why would they want you to put your resume there when Penn explicitly tells you not to send in a Resume.
People need to think.
Do what you want, but don't cry if you're rejected or deferred not because you're a bad student, but simply because you made the adcom have to spend more time on your application, and they simply mark you down out of spite.
They're human after all.

Where does it say they don't want that? Also, this is not a separate resume that is mailed in, but just a bit of extra things that I want to put there. It isn't too much... only 3 or 4 things, but I feel they are important and add to my application and I'd like to put them there.

you can send a resume in..
all the kids who got in last year from my school did
i asked them personally

what about an activity list where you list an activity (in a table) and write a sentence or two about it since in the common app doesnt give you time to expand on it
