Hi, I just submitted my UC transfer application. I will be taking statistics on the Spring, right before transferring to UC campus. I heard that Math requirement must be finished by this Fall… is it going to hurt my chances for taking Math on Spring? My major is Political science.
It must be finished by the end of spring. It is better if you have it done by the end of fall but it won’t hurt you.
It could hurt you if it’s your only math on the transcript and you applied to UCSB. They want to see a math grade (even remedial) by fall. However, if you are denied admission, I have heard of a few successful appeals after the course is completed.
You also need it completed by fall for any TAG.
Lastly, while most majors/UCs accept it in spring, it’s one of those courses that can occasionally be problematic in spring, depending on major and the overall inclination of the admissions office. Sometimes they will have a requirement of a B grade in the provisional, if accepted, so keep that in mind.
@lindyk8 What about English? I’m currently taking English 1 now and will be taking English 2 in the Spring. I’m currently doing well in English 1.
@philosoup, Unless you’re TAG, you can take the second English in spring.
