Is it possible if you take a lot of APs and apply to a college as a sophomore?
You can always APPLY. Whether u get admitted is a different issue.
Colleges typically require a HS diploma or GED.
Depends. Will you meet your HS’s graduation requirements? Are you spectacular (and I mean pretty goshdarn amazing) enough to leave at that age?
No, you apply as a freshman (first time in college), but you get advanced standing once you are in college. it’s better to apply as a freshman applicant because they get the best scholarships!
Would you have a diploma?
Do you mean apply when you are a sophomore or apply to be a sophomore?
I read it this way: you’re applying, as a 17 or 18 year old who has taken enough AP credits, to be a college sophomore, right?
Not a 15 year old high school sophomore who has lots of APs and wants to enter college right away??
When you apply as a freshman, most colleges just mean first time in college. If you take enough APs, you might have sophomore status credit wise, depending how many credits transfer and what not.
Ambiguous question. Are you a sophmore in high school? Are you trying to apply to be a sophmore in college?

@wonderfulreads is right. If you’re coming out of high school, you should always apply to colleges as a freshman. Your AP exam scores might allow you to have sophomore or junior standing once you get to college, but this will be determined after you’re accepted and decided to attend the school. Also, having sophomore or junior standing doesn’t mean you’ll graduate in fewer than four years; it depends on whether your credits actually meet the requirements you’re supposed to fulfill. When I graduate from college, I will have been a “senior” for three years and it doesn’t have an effect on anything.
