I am seriously considering applying, but I don't want to waste my money on application and testing fees.
I am in the top 10% of my class, and scored in the 99% percentile on both the Iowa and EXPLORE tests. I received a half-year scholarship from a private high school, as well as a $4000 scholarship from a private Catholic high school. I have a 100+ average, and am in Honors classes for Geometry, Global History, Biology, and English. I make the honor roll each quarter, and was valedictorian of my 8th grade class. I have played the piano for 9 years, and have performed in several recitals. I was chosen to perform in the piano Master Class at the Ithaca Summer Piano Institute, and I received a perfect 100 score on my level 5 NYSSMA evaluation. My other interests include baking, cooking, reading, and yoga. I have studied Japanese in the past for 3 years, but because of health issues had to drop out. I'm now trying to revive my vocabulary and speaking skills.
Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging, but I just want to know if I even stand a chance of attending Exeter because I don't play any sports or come from an uber-rich family. What do you guys think?
Also, how much harder would the courses be at Exeter than at my current school? I already go to a college preparatory school, and I know for a fact the courses there are considerably more difficult than those at the public schools in my area (New York). Would my grades drop? And if it is likely that my grades will decrease at Exeter, would it be wiser to remain at my school and get great grades there or to go to Exeter and have average grades? Thanks so much. :)

Just because the deadline has already gone by, it’d be near impossible to get in because you’ll fall into the late applicant pool. Although if you felt like you really wanted to apply, then by all means do it, you just might get in. If it doesn’t work out, there’s always next year.

Katester22,
In regard to the issue of lateness of application, I recently contacted the admissions office only a few days ago, and they responded saying it would be absolutely all right if I applied now. The only issue, they said, is that I may not receive my acceptance/rejectance letter by March 10.

Yes, it is all right to apply but they have less openings for spots. For instance, exeter in regular admission has a 20% acceptance rate… late admission would be about a 7% acceptance rate or lower

I just checked on the website, it said

“We are no longer accepting applications for Fall 2010 admission”

But if they gave you permission to apply late, then I am mistaken, and you would have a good chance. The only thing that might get in the way is the lack of sports, but you should still apply. Good luck with it!

please chance me!
