Is it possible for me to go to Brown still? (Softmore atm)

So as the 3/4th mark of this year, I have a 4.02 GPA. However, it’s probably going to go down a bit, and I’ll probs end with 3.9-3.8 weighted, I’m not sure. My mom has told me that I pretty much won’t make it into Brown with my grades atm… (even if I do super well next year). I’m gonna work my butt off next year, but if I seriously can’t make it into brown starting from softmore year, I think I’d want to know my chances so I can start focusing on other possible schools if needed.

I’m taking all honors, except for orchestra for this year, and my school is SUPER COMPETETIVE(save me. Our Honors Chem class has had test averages for all the classes in the D and C range for all of 3rd MP. I’m dying.). I’m in the “elevated math course”, one year ahead. The number of people with all A’s taking as many honors as possible can be counted on probably a single hand in my entire grade. I’m planning on taking all AP’s except for Honors Spanish next year.

So additional stuff I have, I guess that for Freshman and Softmore Year, I have made it into All State Orchestra (and for 2 years in middle school, though I don’t think that matters as much) and ranked top ten as a violin player this year (yay). I also do art outside of school, and perhaps above average level? I’m preparing a portfolio as of this coming summer. I don’t have a sport though… (;- I have a guarenteed officer position in a club next year.

Starting to study for SAT and going full blown this summer. I’m probably going to keep taking until I get a pretty high SAT (1500+ hopefully). I’m taking AP Comp Sci Exam this year, I’m going to aim for a 5 (pretty confident in this). I got an 800 on my Bio subject SAT exam. Going to take a couple more subjects in the next year or so. I got 1350 on PSAT (no studying) as we take it legit for junior year. I’ll try to get into NHS. (I also Passed HSK 5 (language exam for chinese), but I don’t think that helps me very much…)

I do plan to apply Early Decision (I REALLY WANT TO GO TO BROWN.) I plan on applying to CS (my mom says apply for engineering and transfer??? ). I do not have a legacy… (I am also considering applying to RISD and seeing if I can go for their dual major program in both art and CS.)

I’m asian (no longer an advantage) and I’m female.

Please just be honest with me DX. And if there is anything else that I need to do to super raise my chances in the next two years.

I’d recommend that you give up the idea of a dream school and work to create a solid college list that includes reach (including Brown), match, and safety schools that appear affordable (find out your parents’ budget and run the net price calculator for each school) and that you would be very happy to attend. The people I see who get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on one or two hyper-competitive schools and then don’t get in. Cast a wide net and recognize that (assuming no major hook) Brown, which had an admission rate around 7% this year, is a reach for pretty much everyone. There are tons of wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.

You are a sophomore.

You are a competitive applicant. Get an SAT score of 1500+ and two SAT subject test scores of 700s+. Write great essays and you could get accepted
