Is it possible for me to one day work in management consulting?

Graduated college last year with a bachelors in psychology. Overall GPA a 2.7, but GPA from my last 60 credits was around a 3.5 and my GPA from the school I graduated with is a 3.2 (attended 2 colleges). But the school was an online for profit school.

Is there any way I can get into a masters program that would allow me to get into management consulting? I know a lot of the top firms only recruit from certain schools, and they're the top schools. Also what major should I be going for? I can't go for an MBA since I don't really have any work experience. Or should I just be looking for another career?

If I were you, I would adjust my expectations. You probably aren’t going to get into Bain, BCG or McKinsey. That said, there are plenty of other firms that will open their doors to you if you have a good application (resume, cover letter and interview). Look at small to mid-size local/regional companies. Definitely get someone to review your resume before applying.

The other piece of advice is to ignore the experience requirements. A company “requiring” 1-3 years of experience would probably hire someone straight out of school if that person could convince them, and in any case, it is always better for a company to reject you than for you to reject yourself.

I don’t mind working for a smaller company. I just wanted to know if it’s possible for me to get into a program that would allow me to intern for those companies.
