I am a transfer student. So the SUNY application just opened up along with the common app of the 1st. I was once told by a professor of mine that it was bad to send in your application too early. I don't know if he is a good census. Is it too early right now to submit it? He said they can be wary in the beginning of the process but Stony Brook University is listed as rolling so wouldn't that eliminate it?

Won’t they want to see your fall and possibly spring grades anyway? I’m not sure if they would even look at your file without them.

Also, you might have some sort of major accomplishment in the next nine months that you would want to include in the application.

Firstly, I am applying for spring 2012 so my spring grades are already submited as well as summer. They would not ask for spring grades at the get go, they would request them later on. Second, there is no portion on the application for ECs or even an essay, which is really sad because I worked extremely hard becoming a president of a club now I don’t even get to write it down anywhere on the application. I plan on sending an essay along with my resume including my ECs regardless.

So, you’ve completed a full year + summer of college already? I’d say if your record is strong, and you’re already sure, why not apply now? I’ve never heard about schools being wary of potential transfers applying earlier in the cycle, especially if it’s rolling like Stony Brook. Then again, I only applied for my transfer a few days before the deadline, so I could be off. But it doesn’t sound like delaying your app would help you, especially since you wouldn’t have any more grades until after you’d make the transfer.

Why would it hurt you? I think it would actually help you to apply as early as possible. There are only so many spots available for transfers, and you want to make sure you get one.

It would have been good to mention that you were talking about spring, I thought you meant Fall12. If that’s the case, I think you can go right ahead.

my threads always go weird haha. I have 74 units including some medials. I’ve been going to college for two years marking the end of the month as an anniversary. Perfect I’ll submit it tonight then! thanks for you input!

Sorry Buegie reading that again my response did sound kind of mean! I did not mean it that way! I know I just figured it was given, nothing against you. I was just tunnel visioned not thinking about fall at all.

haha, it wasn’t mean at all, no worries…GL
